New year is always a nice time to start planning the year ahead and making it better than the last. Have we broken our new years resolutions yet?

The Chambers had a fantasic 2012, we were so fortunate to have so many lovely guest stay with us and enjoyed hosting some great events from bbqs to private dinners.

2013 already is looking bright, occupancy is up and we have been awarded with the Travellers Choice Award and we are in the top 20 Hotels in the whole of the UK!

This year marks our 5th Birthday since the opening of Park Place and we will also be celebrating our 10th year of being the company we are today.

We are going to be doing lots of exiciting things to help us celebrate so watch this space.

The Chambers – voted best Leeds hotel on TripAdvisor for the third year running!

We’ve been extremely busy as all the girls and staff will agree both for reservations and for meetings, we hosted a very successful bloggers event, Saturday and Sunday- feedback was great and we even got a shiny new review on Trip advisor about the meeting space! (Always nice to hear when our hard work pays off).

Last week was a week of meetings for new ventures with Christine securing a very exciting promotion with Harvey Nichols; watch this space for more details!

Thursday and Friday saw a great 2 day event organised with lots of cakes and pastries as well as an excellent buffet from Salts Catering:

As you can see October is already shaping up to be a very active and exciting month, I’ll be posting every week with an update of what’s happened so you never miss a beat.

Unlike in large hotels, here at The Chambers Park Place the delegates have sole use of our meeting space – which means breakout areas in Reception and the Courtyard and lunch in the Library. Starting the day with sausage and bacon sandwiches, pastries and fresh fruit, the delegates use the space for group discussions and role plays. Tea and coffee is available for self-service at all times, and a hearty lunch served halfway through the day.

At the end of a busy day, we will be cooking up a barbecue for the delegates in the Courtyard, whilst they relax and chat over a beer or two. With all the delegates staying at Park Place overnight, there’s not far to go for a good sleep before starting it all again tomorrow!

For those workshops looking for a more formal approach, we can also arrange private dining in the Maurice Paynel Suite, with a wide menu choice.

Reception at Park Place for the Jubilee Weekend

We have had a busy few weeks at The Chambers, with May 2012 being our busiest month ever. From guests staying for one night, to long-term guests moving in for a few months and meetings and events galore, we have been kept on our toes!

Our hard work was all made worthwhile by this surprise gift from a company who use our serviced apartments and meeting room facilities at 30 Park Place on a regular basis: a bunch of flowers for all of the office staff! Thank you again for this wonderful treat!

Another exciting and unusual event took place in the Courtyard. We had the UK champion barbecue team here to rehearse their barbecuing in advance of the world championships in America. Using a slow-cook charcoal barbecue, they started cooking at 5am and served up the meat at 1pm. It was incredibly tender and juicy. Thanks for letting us try it – we think you should have won the world title!

Things to do whilst you’re in Leeds
There are fantastic shopping opportunities right on your doorstep, with the main shopping area just 5 minutes’ walk from The Chambers Park Place. Whilst every apartment has its own kitchen for cooking up gourmet delights, there is also a huge array of restaurants if you fancy an evening out. We recommend Primo for authentic Italian food in a cosy atmosphere, Chaophraya for a bustling atmosphere and great Thai food, or La Grillade for a fantastic steak.

Leeds Museum is a great place to visit with children, with exhibitions changing regularly and lots to see and do. Have a look at the Leeds City Council Museums and Galleries to read about Easter Holiday events at the Leeds Museum and nearby galleries.

You could even learn something new during your trip! Leeds College of Art are running a series of 3-day short courses including jewellery-making, millinery and drawing. Why not combine your holiday with trying out a new skill?

Barbecue at The Chambers

We were lucky when we chose 1^st October for our barbecue at Park Place. As the temperature soared to 29 degrees, staff and guests of The Chambers enjoyed burgers, jacket potatoes and marshmallows in the courtyard on a fun and sociable evening.

We run regular social events at The Chambers, providing an opportunity for guests to meet with staff and their neighbours from Park Place and Riverside West. Many guests come to stay from abroad for weeks and months at a time and enjoy the opportunity to meet others in the same position, resulting in some lasting friendships.

Our next event will be a mulled wine and mince pie evening to warm us up on the chilly winter days to come!
